Airports & Airlines

Our local airports are; Poitiers and Angouleme under an hour drive,  La Rochelle, Limoges, Tours (one hour 20 mins drive) Bordeaux and Nantes (two hours drive) Also worth consideration Paris with TGV connection to Poitiers Rail Station.

Airlines flying into one or more of the above airports include Citylineswiss, Ryanair, Easyjet, Flybe, Jet2, BMIbaby, British Airways, Air France and  Aer Lingus.

 

Rail

The area is well served by British/French Rail, information can be found on Voyages-SNCF. This site is in French, if you need help please ask us. Promotional fares ‘Prems’ become available periodically so it pays to check the site frequently.

The Eurostar leaves London or Ashford for either Paris or Lille Europe. The connection at Lille is very simple and involves just a platform change onto the super fast TGV.  The train stops at Ruffec (25 mins drive from the cottages) also Poitiers (50mins drive) and Niort (40mins drive). Station of arrival is determined by which train is selected departing Paris.

It is also possible to fly into Paris (Charles de Gaulle Airport) and transfer onto the TGV at the airport railway station.
