Welcome to France
Situated on the edge of a forest, the little hamlet of La Grande Tranchee provides a haven for its inhabitants and visitors alike. This typical French farming community offers a friendly welcome to all who choose to stay.
The countryside around the hamlet is a mix of forest, arable and grazing. The farmer keeps a flock of sheep and two beautiful riding horses which can be seen lazily grazing across the lane from the garden. The sheep occasionally wander free around the hamlet looking for the best field to graze in! So please drive carefully.
Our cottages are set in pretty walled gardens; planted with maple, silver birch, roses, wisteria, grape vine, lavender, ceanothus, magnolia, hibiscus, geraniums etc. Each cottage has a large BBQ which provides 'would be chefs' a chance to show off their culinary skills whilst the ladies enjoy a well earned rest, perhaps sipping a glass of wine or taking a dip in the pool.
Our 'little' guests enjoy raiding the strawberry patch whilst their parents particularly enjoy our succulent black cherries! Fresh home grown herbs: - sage, parsley, coriander, chives, fennel, rosemary are also available, in season, for your alfresco dining. With no less than three market towns in close proximity you will be spoilt for choice when arranging shopping forays and trips to market.
So to recap, if you would like a really comfortable holiday home, wish to wake up to birdsong, enjoy walking and cycling on un spoilt tracks and quiet lanes, like to see fields of bright red poppies or fantastic sunflowers, spot rare birds, witness really starry nights (no light pollution) count satellites and shooting stars, see the Milky Way for the first time ... etc, then La Grande Tranchee could be the place for you!
